My Specialism in EYFS

My specialism is in the Early Years Foundation Stage, with a particular focus on supporting schools to understand, strengthen and lead high-quality early years provision. I work with Headteachers, EYFS Leads, teachers and practitioners to develop practice that is purposeful, inclusive, evidence-informed and rooted in a deep understanding of how young children learn.

My expertise spans EYFS leadership, curriculum design, pedagogy, provision, assessment, communication and language, inclusion, transitions, staff development and the learning environment. I support schools to look beyond compliance and consider the bigger picture: how the EYFS can become the foundation for long-term educational success, confidence, curiosity and equity.

A key part of my work is helping leaders understand the distinctiveness of early years. The EYFS is not simply a preparation phase for Key Stage 1; it is a vital stage of education in its own right. Through my consultancy, training and professional dialogue, I help schools develop approaches that respect young children’s development while ensuring ambition, progression and strong foundations for future learning.

My practice is grounded in evidence, but always translated into practical, realistic action. I support schools to evaluate the quality of their provision, strengthen adult interactions, refine curriculum thinking, improve environments, support communication and language development, and build staff confidence. Inclusion is central to my work, informed by my Master’s dissertation and my belief that every child should be able to access rich, meaningful and responsive learning experiences.

I bring both professional challenge and supportive guidance, helping schools identify what is working well and where practice can be developed further. My aim is always to build capacity within teams, strengthen leadership confidence and support sustainable improvement.

Through my EYFS specialism, I help schools create early years provision that is intentional, ambitious, nurturing and deeply connected to the children, families and communities they serve.
